On 10 to 13 September 2018, the 10th International Student Workshop on "Accessible tourism" was held at the Department of Tourism of the Polytechnic University of Jihlava. The theme of the workshop includes tourism of people with health problems and its importance will increase in the future, among other reasons, due to the aging of the population. The issues addressed in the workshop initiated the establishment of interdepartmental cooperation between the Department of Tourism and the Department of Social Work. The participants of the workshop were 9 students of the Austrian partner school FH Wien and 8 Czech students of Health and Social Worker and Tourism.
The language of the workshop was English.
On the first day of the workshop, the students were welcomed at a ceremony, followed by an introduction to the workshop programme. The morning programme also included a lecture by Dr. Martina Černá from the Department of Social Work at the University of Applied Sciences, focusing on communication with people with disabilities, but also with senior citizens or children during their participation in tourism. In the afternoon followed a seminar on the specifics of tourism for people with disabilities. The seminar included the opportunity to ask questions to former hockey forward Ing. Tomáš Zelenka, who ended up in a wheelchair as a result of an injury. At the end of the first day of the workshop, the students learnt how to move around in a wheelchair (including moving in the terrain, going through doors without the help of an assistant or climbing stairs that do not have rails, etc.) and with a blind stick.
On the second day of the workshop, the participants were provided with information about the field survey and evaluation forms during a lecture by Dr. Šedivá Neckářová. Students also took a tour of Jihlava with a guide - a student of Tourism. The field survey was carried out in various tourism facilities in Jihlava.
On the third day of the workshop an excursion to the Golf Resort Telč took place.
The last day of the workshop was in the spirit of final presentations - the results of the qualitative survey were presented to the expert committee in the form of final presentations. The winning team will present their presentations at the 14th International Conference on Current Issues in Tourism in February 2019.
The participants of the workshop had the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in practice during the implementation of the field research, but also to expand their professional knowledge and language skills, but above all to try working in an international team.
On 5 to 8 September 2017, the 9th International Student Workshop on "Sustainability & Tourism" was held at the partner school Fachhochschule für Management und Kommunikation in Vienna.
The language of the workshop was English, the participants were 4 full-time and combined students of Tourism and 10 Austrian students of FH Wien.
On the first day of the workshop, the students were welcomed, then they were introduced to the workshop programme and got to know each other. During the teambuilding, Czech-Austrian teams were formed. The students attended lectures on "Sustainability and tourism", Sustainable Gastronomy tourism", "Local products, Regionality and Sustainability" as well as a lecture on marketing research methodology. The field research was carried out in catering establishments in Vienna using the mystery shopping method. Each team was tasked with conducting the survey in two catering establishments, pre-selected by the organisers. The results of the qualitative research were presented to the event organizers on the last day of the workshop in the form of final presentations, followed by a final evaluation of the event by the students, after which the workshop was officially closed. On 5 to 8 September 2016, the eighth edition of the international student workshop on "Accessible tourism for all" took place at the Department of Tourism of the Polytechnic University of Jihlava.The participants of the workshop were students of the VŠPJ in the field of tourism and students of bachelor's and master's studies of the Austrian Fachhochschule Wien, Institute for Tourism Management.On the first day of the workshop, the students were welcomed at a ceremony, then they were introduced to the workshop programme and got to know each other. During the teambuilding four Czech-Austrian teams were formed. Part of the morning programme was a lecture by Dr. Martina Černá from the Department of Social Work of the Polytechnic University Jihlava focused on communication with people with disabilities, but also with senior citizens or children during their participation in tourism. On the second day, the students attended other thematically focused expert lectures (by Dr. Linderová from the Department of Tourism and the general manager of the Art Nouveau Palace Hotel in Prague, Ing. Martin Kot'átek). In the afternoon, the participants were given a lecture by Ing. Šedivá Neckářová provided information on the field survey and evaluation forms for benchmarking. The survey was carried out in visitor attractions in Jihlava, each four-member team had the task of conducting the survey in two attractions (the specific topic was drawn by the teams).
The results of the qualitative survey were presented to the expert committee on the last day of the workshop in the form of final presentations. The winning team, who will present their presentation at the 12th International Conference on Current Issues in Tourism in February 2017, are students Stefanie Androwitsch, Pavla Kalinova, Yulia Mansour and Iuliia Schweinhammer. Following close behind in second place is the team consisting of Vojtech Hruska, Jil Perdacher, Daniela Tinhof and Lucie Vlčková (in case the winning team does not participate, they will attend the conference as alternates).
The student workshop on "ACCESSIBLE TOURISM FOR DISABLED PEOPLE" was funded by the internal grant of the Polytechnic University of Jihlava.
The next Czech-Austrian student workshop will take place in September 2017 in Vienna (all details to be specified).
On 31 August to 3 September 2015, the 7th International Student Workshop on "AESTHETICS IN TOURISM MARKETING - the impact of sound, smell, colour, light and temperature in Tourism" was held at the partner school Fachhochschule für Management und Kommunikation in Vienna.
The main language of the workshop was English, the participants were 9 Czech students of the VŠPJ in the field of Tourism - full-time and combined form of study and 9 Austrian students of the FH Wien.
On the first day of the workshop the students were welcomed ceremonially, then they were introduced to the program of the workshop and also got to know each other. During the teambuilding, Czech-Austrian teams were formed. The students attended lectures on Aesthetics in Tourism Marketing, "Colour and Light in Tourism", "Sound in tourism" and "The scent maker".
The students then applied the information they had gained to their own research. The survey was carried out in accommodation establishments in Vienna using the benchmarking method. Each team of four was tasked with conducting the survey in two accommodation establishments selected in advance by the organisers. The results of the qualitative survey were presented to the event organizers on the last day of the workshop in the form of final presentations, followed by a final evaluation of the event by the students, after which the workshop was officially closed.
On 8 to 11 September 2014 the 6th International Student Workshop on "Accessible tourism for disabled people" was held at the Polytechnic University Jihlava.
The main language of the workshop was English, the participants were 9 Czech students of the VŠPJ in the field of tourism and 10 Austrian students from FH Wien.
On the first day of the workshop, the students were welcomed ceremonially, followed by their familiarization with the workshop program and also mutual acquaintance. During the teambuilding four Czech-Austrian teams were formed. In the afternoon, a seminar on the specifics of tourism for people with disabilities followed. Part of the seminar was the possibility to ask questions to the person with disabilities. At the end of the first day of the workshop, the students learned how to move around in a wheelchair (including moving in the terrain, going through doors without the help of an assistant or climbing stairs that do not have rails with the help of an assistant) and with a blind cane. On the
second day, participants were provided with information regarding the field investigation, and in the
afternoon, participants were provided with the ADA evaluation form, which includes criteria and parameters required for building entrances, within the
walkways, elevator modifications, or parking requirements. The students then applied the information gathered to conduct the survey, which was conducted using a mystery shopping method. The survey was carried out in accommodation facilities in Jihlava that have rooms for the disabled and also in visitor attractions. Each team of four was tasked with conducting the survey in two accommodation facilities and two attractions (the teams drew lots for the specific topic). The results of the qualitative survey were presented to the event organizers on the last day of the workshop in the form of final presentations. After listening to all four presentations, the winning team was selected to present their final presentation at the 9th International Conference "Current Issues in Tourism" - on the topic "Tourism and its Impact on Society", organized on 25th November 2012.After the ceremony of announcing the winning team (Michael Hummel, Viktoria Kastner, Kristýna Rejlová, Manuela Telínová), the final evaluation of the event by students took place, then the workshop was officially closed.
Student workshop on "ACCESSIBLE TOURISM FOR DISABLED PEOPLE" was realized in the framework of the project No. 1200/4/6136 funded by the grant of the Polytechnic University Jihlava.
On 9 to 13 September 2013 the 5th International Student Workshop on Enotourism/Wine Tourism took place. The workshop was primarily organized by the Fachhochschule Wien, Institute for Tourism Management.
The main language of the workshop was English, the participants were 10 Czech students of the VŠPJ, majoring in tourism (full-time and combined studies) and 10 Austrian students of the FH Wien. During the workshop students attended lectures (Concept of Enotourism - trends, Enotourism - (Inter)national Key Player, Characteristica of Enotourism) and thematic excursions (Weiniger winery, Bar Weinstadt...). The main activity of the international student teams was to conduct qualitative field research and subsequent presentation of its results in the form of final presentations.

On 3 to 6 September 2012 the 4th International Student Workshop on "Tourism Research in a protected area" took place. This workshop, which was one of the activities carried out as a continuation of the cooperation after the end of the project "Cooperation of universities in tourism", was organized by the Department of Tourism of the University of Applied Sciences, and the project partner Fachhochschule Wien also participated in the preparations. The partner in providing the professional programme of the workshop was Palacký University in Olomouc and the Podyjí National Park Administration. The venue of the workshop was the Podyjí & Thayatal National Park.
The workshop was attended by 18 students (13 VŠPJ, 5 FH-Wien), the language of discussion was English. During the workshop, students attended several lectures focused on research methodology in tourism, information gathering and questionnaire development. In five- to six-member international teams, they carried out primary data collection in Podyjí and Thayatal NP areas. The collected data were subsequently evaluated using basic mathematical and statistical methods. The results of the primary survey were the subject of the teams' final presentations at the end of the workshop. During the workshop, the students took two field trips to the Podyjí NP in the vicinity of Čížov and to the Thayatal NP in the vicinity of Hardegg.
